WSE - The Timeline Expands
Has anyone heard anything about when WSE is planning to re-open?

The orginal announcement - posted on January 4th:
http://www.wselive.com/research/announcement_detail/3290
This announcement stated up to 30 days.

Now a new announcement today:
http://www.wselive.com/research/announcement_detail/3375
This annoucement states that expected open is late February 2008.

Just wondering what everyones thoughts on this are. Has anyone heard anything or spoken with anyone at WSE?

Happy Friday to you all.
Ash

Re: WSE - The Timeline Expands
Pfffttt... I have heard a number of wild theories, mostly involving financial, legal, or liquidity issues. The funny thing is... all of them are about as incredulous as the official "WSE 4.0 development" theory.

Who knows how many times the timeline will expand, or what WSE will be like when – or if – it ever comes back online.

My thoughts go out to anyone with cash or shares locked up at the WSE, though.

Re: WSE - The Timeline Expands
I wonder if there might be some companies deciding that WSE is no longer worth it and look to move to one of the other exchanges. It's bad enough that they closed up shop at all. To delay re-opening seems to be intolerable.

Just musing.

Re: WSE - The Timeline Expands
Yea it is taking a while but i ment the companies on the WSE are continuing on as normal. This really shouldnt impede their ability to do business. Im sure everyone would like to see the WSE open aagin sooner then later - but sometimes RL doesnt cooperate with SL as we all know :)

They aren't continuing as normal if they are an investment firm, are they Ivan? Especially if their holdings are on WSE. I can't wait to see their next move, it should be a dousy!

I've heard that they won't be convertable to linden any more. Anyone else heard anything new from the rumor mill?

Actually Cash my intention here was to gather information on what's out there so I can formulate direct questions for WSE manangment the next time I speak with any of them. Otherwise you just get the standard lines of everything is fine we are just upgrading. I realize that this might not be appropriate since its the SL Capex forum, however it is the most populated forum with the some of the savviest investors I've encountered.

Re: WSE - The Timeline Expands
Yes Sully thats a good point the fund companies that trade in WSE securities are on hold. I help run one such fund and it is a period of 'dead Lindens' so to speak.

As for the rumors - yes I have heard tons of rumors about the WSE as well as luke. In the most case though they are originating from the same circle of people. Last time I spoke with Luke there was no plan to abandon Lindens. My question is why speculate on a forum about what Luke plans to do? Just ask him - he is in SL all the time and not hard to get a hold of. He is the only one who knows the answers for sure to all of your questions.

I understand people are upset about it being closed so long - and im not defending Lukes actions - I just get fustrated when people start throwing rumors around without foundation.

Ultimately the SL market forces will decide the WSE's fate -that is what will ultimately determine if Luke did wrong by investors..... who knows SL can be wacky im not even going to try and predict what will happen

Re: WSE - The Timeline Expands
I have no relationship of any kind with Lukeconnell Vanderveer of WSE and choose not to begin one at this time. Business or otherwise. The only direct correspondence of any kind was an unresponded to Happy New Year e-mail I sent to him.

As for the rumor mill phrase, it was simply a figure of speech. I guess I should know better, with the global diversity in SL, than to use figures of speech. Sorry.

I would love to hear of any new concrete news regarding the WSE, if anyone should have any to share.

As for 'dead Lindens' that may be a more far reaching phrase than we know. I hope to have some of those firms from WSE join us on L & L and CapEX. Only time will tell.(oops did it again, lol)
